👁️ PARTS OF THE HUMAN EYE & THEIR FUNCTIONS
Your eyes are one of the most sophisticated optical systems in the human body.
But how does each part of the eye contribute to vision?
Let’s understand it simply. 👇
🔹 1. CORNEA The transparent front surface of the eye. It provides much of the eye’s focusing power and helps direct incoming light.
🔹 2. IRIS The colored part of the eye. It controls the amount of light entering the eye by changing the size of the pupil.
🔹 3. PUPIL The opening at the center of the iris through which light enters the eye.
🔹 4. CRYSTALLINE LENS The natural lens inside the eye. It changes its shape to focus light clearly at different distances.
🔹 5. RETINA A light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. It converts light into electrical signals that can be processed by the brain.
🔹 6. MACULA The central area of the retina responsible for detailed and sharp central vision.
🔹 7. OPTIC NERVE Carries visual information from the retina to the brain, where the information is interpreted as vision.
🔹 8. SCLERA The strong white outer layer of the eye. It protects the eye and helps maintain its shape.
🔹 9. CHOROID A blood-vessel-rich layer that supplies oxygen and nutrients to the eye, particularly the outer retina.
🔹 10. AQUEOUS & VITREOUS HUMOUR Clear fluids inside the eye that help maintain its shape and provide the optical environment needed for vision
